The CASH Database

The database is the hub of the CASH service. The content can be added, searched and exported to create personalised alerting services for library customers.  There are a number of newsfeeds that can be embedded into external CAS website pages keeping them constantly updated with the latest content.

To search for a specific item enter a keyword that may appear in either the title or summary.

Database entry is very quick and easy, see the Database Quick Guide for further support.

Abstract
The claimant suffered problems problems with a stoma and brought a claim in negligence against the respondents, claiming: (1) that the operation was performed in the wrong way; and (2) that the claimant was discharged despite being in pain and having clear discolouration of the stoma. The first claim was dismissed, the judge holding that the operation carried risks to which the claimant had consented and had been properly carried out. The claimant succeeded on the second claim. The hospital appealed on the grounds that the judge had wrongly dismissed the hospital notes on the morning of the discharge as being inaccurate. The Court of Appeal held that on the totality of the evidence, including previous notes, the judge was entitled to find as he did, preferring the claimant's evidence to that in the notes.
